Surpassing 15 competitive teams with the First Prize (in the Central region) on November 3rd 2023, at the Vietnamese Language Debate Competition for foreign students in 2023, the team from the University of Foreign Languages Studies- the University of Da Nang was honored to win a ticket to the national finals.
The national final round took place on December 1st 2023, at Ho Chi Minh City National University with the participation of the 12 best teams from 12 training institutes representing 63 institutes training Vietnamese throughout the country. Therefore, this was truly a playground, a big arena where international students from University of Foreign Languages Studies, the University of Da Nang had the opportunity to learn and experience.
Participating in supporting the team were Vietnamese students from the Faculty of International Studies, University of Foreign Languages Studies, the University of Da Nang. With their accompanying performances on stage for the debate section of the three Laotian international students, the International Studies students contributed to make their team’s performance more vibrant and remarkable. Directly accompanying the main team were lecturers from the Division of Vietnamese Language and Culture for foreigners, Faculty of International Studies.
The debate section, with the theme “Gratitude – the traditional beauty of the Vietnamese people through poetry,” performed by the Laotian students, won an encouragement award for the University of Foreign Languages Studies – the University of Da Nang and left profound impressions on both the competition judges and the audience. Through a concise 7-minute debate on stage, the Laotian international students demonstrated their appreciation for Vietnam’s beautiful traditions – the gratitude of the Vietnamese people through emotionally charged verses. Through this, they also expressed their deep gratitude towards Vietnam and its people for the experience of living and studying in Vietnam. This was a message they wished to convey to everyone about gratitude and acknowledgment: “We – the Laotian international students – want to express our gratitude to the country of Vietnam, to teachers at the University of Foreign Languages Studies, the University of Da Nang, to the organizers of the competition, to our parents in Laos, and to the Vietnamese students who accompanied us on our youth journey filled with beautiful memories.”
With its large scale organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnamese Language Debate Competition for international students in 2023 was highly successful and significant. The competition truly provided a memorable and enjoyable experience for the members of the University of Foreign Languages Studies- the University of Da Nang team who participated.
